Alzheimer’s disease has a global cost of $226 billion but currently cannot be cured. The idea is to implement a paradigm-shifting approach that eventually will enable effective treatment with medication that prevents the appearance of symptoms thanks to an early stage, non-invasive diagnosis.

5 million disabled people in Uganda are so poorly served by health services as 45 percent die because they are not included in HIV/AIDS and reproductive health programs. A project to train Ugandan health experts on working with the disabled could be a model to improve healthcare across Africa.
