Transforming Personal & Societal Wellbeing -- Healing Afghanistan

60% of Afghans suffer from stress and mental heath disorders caused by witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. There are only two psychiatrists treating ~30 million Afghans. Provide a wellbeing platform via the mobile phone to bring global experts to collaborate with Afghan community.

Adolescent girls in developing countries lack resources to manage menstruation, creating health risks and barriers to education. For the Good Period works to provide reusable sanitary pads and sexual and reproductive health education at a meaningful scale.

Village Square: It takes a village to raise a child with a life-limiting illness

Village Square is a web-based application designed to help children with life-limiting illnesses stay in their home, preventing re-admission to the hospital. The family is at the center of a town square, with links to their physicians, symptom management, medication list and health recommendations.

Health and women’s safety

Access to sanitation is a human right, yet 70% of the population in India living in rural villages & urban slums have no access. Women limit their daily movements, food & drink intake and are vulnerable to sexual violence. With crowdmap technology we plan to pinpoint hotspots and find solutions.

Open opportunities for Africans with disabilities to access quality health services

5 million disabled people in Uganda are so poorly served by health services as 45 percent die because they are not included in HIV/AIDS and reproductive health programs. A project to train Ugandan health experts on working with the disabled could be a model to improve healthcare across Africa.

The primary goal of this project is to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for persons with Alzheimer’s by educating caregivers in interventions for non-pharmacological, holistic treatment. Another benefit is to caregivers, offering ways to reduce stress through acceptance and effective communication.

Gaming to Create Communities in Pediatric Asthma

Asthma is the most common chronic disease of children. Current mechanisms to engage children in their asthma care are not working adequately. We will develop an asthma game where success is dependent upon medication compliance, exercising and active engagement on a web-based social network platform.
